Drooping, sagging cheeks and excess cheek fats which can make your face puffy, saggy face and the cause of less prominent than other facial features.
• GENETICS
Genetics plays a role on whether or not you have jowls and how apparent they get over time might be influenced by your Genetic structure. As such, some individuals end up with a stronger or softer jawline thanks to hereditary factors. Early in life, you could begin to see jowls if you naturally have thin skin or little collagen and elastin in the skin. Lack of muscle density, resulting in a higher body fat composition and the reduction in vital skin components lead to diminished support for facial skin, causing it to sag and give rise to the appearance of sagging cheeks.
• AGING
In our youth, a considerable amount of fat (baby fat) in our cheeks can help us look younger and the general idea is that volume and firmness in the face equals a younger look in which certain people just have more fat in their faces than others. However, there is also such a thing as chubby cheeks and puffiness in the face that border on looking like weight gain which as individuals age, facial fat and volume naturally decrease, but this process can be intensified by rapid weight loss, less collagen and elastin in the skin leading to an excess of sagging skin on the lower face, including the cheeks.
• Sun Exposure
Sun exposure factors can accelerate the aging process, leading to earlier or more pronounced sagging. Prolonged exposure to ultraviolet (UV) rays from the sun can hasten the breakdown of collagen and elastin, speeding up the skin’s aging process and weaker skins.
• Daily Lifestyle
Several lifestyle factors can accelerate this process, including smoking and an unhealthy diet without the right amount of exercise may cause fat and puffy cheeks. These habits can significantly reduce the production of collagen and elastin in the skin, vital proteins that maintain skin’s elasticity and firmness.
• Weight
Obesity or being overweight, when we don’t eat as well as we should or exercise as often, fat builds up in our bodies. As we gain (or lose) weight our bodies decide what to do with our fat stores, and they do so without regard for where we would like that fat to go such as puffiness in the face, and some people never seem to lose the baby fat that causes chubby cheeks. Aside from that, significant amounts of weight loss are also more susceptible. Adopting gradual weight loss strategies can mitigate the risk of developing sagging cheeks post-weight loss.
Sagging cheeks are a natural part of the aging process that arises when the elasticity of the skin on the cheeks decreases, leading to a reduction in the cheeks’ firmness and plumpness. Over time, the skin begins to droop, contributing to the appearance of saggy cheeks, pronounced nasolabial folds, jowls, a less defined jawline and cheeks may appear to droop and have little to no tone.
